Liturgical Ministry consists of Alter Servers, Bible Readers and Communion Ministers.
ALTER SERVICE
We invite boys and girls in the parish, fourth grade and older, to participate in the liturgical services as Altar Servers. Training will be provided.
“The closer you are to the altar, the more you will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more you will be nourished by the word and the body of the Lord, the better able you will be to go out to others, bringing them the gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm the joy you have received”. Patron Saint for Altar Servers – St. John Berchmans
Eldest son of a shoemaker, John was born at Diest, Brabant. He early wanted to be a priest, and when thirteen became a servant in the household of one of the Cathedral canons at Malines, John Froymont. In 1615, he entered the newly founded Jesuit College at Malines, and the following year became a Jesuit novice. He was sent to Rome in 1618 to continue his studies, and was known for his diligence and piety, impressing all with his holiness and stress on perfection in little things. He died there on August 13. Many miracles were attributed to him after his death, and he was canonized in 1888. He is the patron of altar boys. His feast day is November 26.
BIBLE READERS AND COMMUNION MINISTERS
We would like to welcome volunteers who can offer their services as readers and communion ministers. The first reading which is from the Old Testament is usually offered in Malayalam and the second reading from New Testament is delivered in English.
